Growing up in Sierra Leone, I dreamed of becoming a civil or architectural engineer. However, due to being placed in the business stream at Prince of Wales instead of the science stream, my academic journey took an unexpected turn. While this initially felt like a setback, it would eventually shape my path in ways I never anticipated.
Despite this shift, my curiosity for technology grew steadily. I began to explore programming and web development on my own, fascinated by how technology could solve real-world problems. In 2023, I joined ALX’s Software Engineering program to formalize my skills and deepen my understanding of the field. During this time, I started building websites for friends, which not only strengthened my technical skills but also fueled my passion for creating impactful digital solutions.
Seeing the need for mentorship and guidance in the tech space, I co-founded Tech Inspire SL, an organization dedicated to empowering young Sierra Leoneans and helping them explore careers in technology. Through Tech Inspire, we aim to bridge the gap in tech education and inspire the next generation of innovators in my community.
Today, I’m focused on creating solutions like UniGuide, a platform designed to help students make informed decisions about their education and career paths. By combining my passion for technology and mentorship, I strive to contribute to a more inclusive and innovative tech ecosystem in West Africa, inspiring others to follow their own journey in tech.
